Elka Drumstar 80: The Italian LinnDrum Reborn
We’re thrilled to announce our next release in collaboration with the Museo del Synth Marchigiano: a Huge Sample Toolbox entirely dedicated to the rare Elka Drumstar 80.
Released in the early ’80s, the Drumstar 80 is an Italian programmable drum machine often nicknamed the “Italian LinnDrum” for its design and 8-bit digital samples. Built with robust Italian engineering and a unique sonic character, it stands as one of the most fascinating drum machines of its era.
This upcoming Toolbox will capture its full sound palette with the obsessive detail you expect from Beatools.

...Last Episode
Today at Beatools Studio, after finishing the drum racks for Ableton Live, we completed the patches for Native Instruments Battery 4 made with this small and fairly rare Korean drum machine: the Cort CRM 260.
We've programmed two patches: one contains several of the many one-shot samples sampled from the drum machine, enhanced and optimized. The second one is a melodic synth made with a combination of the original sounds of the Little Korean Rhythm Box.
By the end of the week, we will also finish creating the Programs and the Project for the Akai MPC Live, and in a few days, the new sample pack dedicated to this incredible small but powerful drum machine will be available on the beatools.com store.
